Still lifes and flowers remain my favorite themes in painting.
Why do I choose still lifes? I see them differently than others may perceive them. I talk about a person through objects, I think about the world through objects, and I analyze myself and my states through objects. Objects are some kind of “memory capsules”; they can tell us a story that remains a secret, or a story with an open end, when each viewer can imagine its continuation in their fantasies. Subjects can stimulate a person to philosophy.
And flowers, which I now paint even more and more often than still lifes, also come to life for me. They are allegorical. When I admire flowers, examine them before transferring them to canvas, I immerse myself in my inner world, in my feelings and states. I don't just paint flowers. In my works I create space so that the viewer, in this contemplation, can actually return to himself, to his nature. In general, flowers are a universally recognized symbol of beauty, aesthetics and everything beautiful. And a person, observing this beauty, blossoms within himself.
