Monica Leitao Mota

Mónica Leitão Mota is a contemporary Portuguese visual artist based in Ontario, Canada.
She studied sculpture and spent many years teaching art in Portugal, before moving to Canada with her family.

Her inspiration comes from the possibilities that arise in between different materials, surfaces and techniques, as she has worked with textiles, embroidering, printmaking and more recently, painting and collages.

Mónica’s work was exhibited in group exhibitions in Ontario and is featured in publications like Textile Artist and Textiel Plus Magazine.
Working with water media and experimental printmaking processes, Mónica’s work is greatly influenced by her garden’s colour and changing landscape.
