Kendull Anderson

My work is a healing journey through my subconscious, giving shape to my profound convictions, emotional traumas, and uplifting aspirations. Primarily utilizing oil as my medium, my process begins with a preliminary sketch drafted from vivid imagery and intense emotions pulled from a recent dream or contemplation. I draw inspiration from song lyrics and biblical scriptures that provide context for symbols used in my paintings, and often inspire the painting titles or narrative undertones. While rooted in my personal experiences as a Black man, my artwork is intentionally open-ended, encouraging multiple interpretations. I invite viewers to embark on a journey into these dream-like realms and to question the unfolding narratives before their eyes. By portraying heartfelt stories of love, faith, hope, and resilience, my intention is to construct therapeutic visual spaces that resonate with both myself and the observer.
