Iulia Jugaru

Iulia Jugaru, (b. 1999, lives and works in Romania), stands as a multilayered artist whose canvas transcends the conventional boundaries of medium and form. Jugaru's artistic oeuvre is characterized by an expansive creative spectrum, encompassing lavish acrylic and textile compositions, immersive installations, photography, and cutting-edge digital art, including glitched videos. Adeptly wielding a vibrant RGB color palette, Jugaru's work reverberates with the echoes of national identity, as she delves into the richness of Romanian culture via old sayings and proverbs. Yet, her exploration extends inward as well, using her own body image as a source of inspiration. Embracing auto-irony as a compositional tool, her thought-provoking works have graced prestigious institutions like the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest and galleries across Romania.
