Change the viewpoint and the perspective shifts. Montreal born, Canadian photographer, Christa Fairchild, examines the results of altering viewer's standpoint and how it affects our emotional response.

Inspiration for her photography comes from the nature - from flowers up close to the great stone expanses of the desert. With the bare minimum, she conjures up the essence of life without expressing the whole. Intimacy is created with the subject by using depth of field and lighting: the viewer's eye drawn to the delicate details. What she captures on camera inspires and motivates us to stop and look with a fresh perspective, and appreciate what we don't always see at first glance.

Essence of Flora shows the silent parallel world of plants. Ms. Fairchild unveils a part of nature, a detail, we pass over everyday. "Christa Fairchild is clearly under the flower's power" says radio host of CBC Toronto's Metro Morning Show, "offering us a bee's eye view of form and colour.".
