Irene Arredondo

Irene Arredondo is a multidisciplinary artist born in Mexico City in 1989, where she lives and works today. Her practice moves between ceramic sculpture, woven tapestry, natural dyeing and photography, and it begins with a simple question, how we inhabit the world and how that shapes the way we relate to one another.

She works in close dialogue with her materials, letting the textures, tones and reliefs that clay, fiber and plant pigments offer guides each piece. From that exchange emerge forms that invite the viewer to shift scale, passing from the intimate to the vast and from the interior to the exterior, and to look at the past as a way of understanding the present.

Her work is rooted in a sensitive attention to nature and to otherness. Rather than asking to be interpreted, it aims to offer a living, reciprocal encounter with the environment, open and unguarded, in which thought give a way to the see a world that is ultimately one.
