I returned to oil painting in 2021 after a lifetime of thinking, I couldn't paint. Now painting is all I want to do. As an artist, I love color. Color is invigorating and makes me excited to get out and paint! Painting a beautiful landscape en plain air is the most enjoyable activity to become lost. I live in the Dallas area where it is mostly flat with a great deal of grass, trees and sky. Whether its a landscape, waterscape, house or car, if I paint it it's because I found something that pulled me into the scene. It might be colors, patterns, shapes or serenity. Know that it had to be painted and I had to be the one to paint it. Each painting or drawing is made with joy, frustration, blood, tears, prayers and cuss words. I strive to be impulsive and not so careful so the artwork is more art than work.
I took most of my art classes at Brookhaven Dallas County Community College where I took drawing, life drawing and design. Most of my oil painting education has been from remote viewing. For the past 2 years, I’ve been learning to paint en plein air by going out and doing just that. It has been challenging but fulfilling.
Oil painting "Fin" was accepted into the "Fresh Off The Easel" competition at the Dutch Art gallery in Dallas, Texas 2023.
