Stephane Dube

Stéphane Dubé is a French-born painter whose artistic trajectory has unfolded across Poland, Japan and Ireland. After studying in Poland and later living in Kyoto, he spent five years in Ireland (2018–2023), where he began his "Moths" cycle. This period marked a decisive change in his practice: after many years of painting human heads, he moved toward subjects drawn from the natural world. "Moths" were followed by "Light Bulb", "Dragonfly", "Dead Snake" and, most recently, "Insect Head". He now lives and works between Japan and Ireland.

His first museum solo exhibition, "MUSHI (insects) Dragonfly and other insects", is currently on view at the National Museum of Oriental Art in Venice.

Stéphane Dubé studied as a Polish government's scholarship student at Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1979-1981. With Japanese government's scholarship he studied at Kyoto University of Arts in 1989-1991.

His first museum solo show “Dragonfly and other insects” is on view at the National Museum of Oriental Art in Venice from 8 May to 30 August 2026.
