My practice spans across multiple mediums, combining printmaking with photography and collage. I build up my images through a process of layering and fragmentation; evoking indistinct memories, lost time and fleeting emotions.
Looking to nature and landscapes for inspiration, I focus on scenes that cannot be pinpointed so as to convey both a sense of intimacy and universality at the same time. It's more about experiencing the landscape than the image of the landscape itself.
Printmaking allows me to not be too "precious" about my work, so I can play with colour, slice up images, burn them or layer them multiple times over. It's an endless series of experiments...
I am a London based artist. I studied Spanish at Edinburgh University from 1994-1998, did a Diploma in Fine and Decorative Art at Christies Education following that, and have completed diplomas in both Foundation and Advanced Courses in Fine Art at Hampstead School of Art. I have had a broad exposure to fine art during the last 20 years, through experience gained in the commercial side of the business, as well as the study of art history.
I have exhibited at various London and European locations, including the Mile End Art Pavilion, The Cadaquez Mini Print Exhibition and The Southbank Printmakers Gallery. My work was featured in the 2021 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and I won the “John Purcell Paper Prize” at the Southbank Mini Print Exhibition 2022. My work will be featured in the upcoming "Small But Mighty" exhibition later this year in London.
