Escond Escond

ESCOND is an Italian sculptor who primarily works with wood. His research stems from experimentation with new techniques and manual processing, through which material, form, and structure are progressively transformed into sculptural works. Each piece is born from a personal and experimental process, where the natural variety of wood contributes to the final form and expression.

The creative process begins with the selection and arrangement of different wood species, chosen for their natural characteristics and distinctive colour tones.
Wood lamellae, 0.6 mm thick, are superimposed according to the intended form of the artwork, until the raw block is created.

The form is then carved by hand and subsequently sanded, progressively revealing the internal structure and the different tones of the woods from which it is composed
