BIOGRAPHY

Yusuf Akyol is a contemporary artist whose practice brings industrial materials into dialogue with cultural memory and belonging. His sculptural reliefs and installations explore the weight of matter, the continuity of memory and the body’s relationship to place.

He calls his approach Muhafazakâr Avangard (Conservative Avant-Garde), understanding culture as a living structure that can transform and generate new forms. Drawing on metaphysical traditions and contemporary thought, he investigates being, unity and the conditions of encounter. The figure he calls İz Sürücü (one who follows traces) connects this research with orientation, time, home and trust.

Working with tar, polyurethane foam, industrial resins, metal mesh and concrete, Akyol maintains an independent practice at his Masiva studio in the Bandırma-Erdek area of Türkiye. His projects connect conceptual art with architectural and public installations.

Yeryüzünün Rengi (The Color of the Earth, 2022 and 2025) and the Brutal Blossom series explore industrial matter through geological, sacred and cultural layers. His recent research engages with public art and cultural heritage in the Gulf region.
