Ihor Shpak

Ihor Shpak is a Ukrainian contemporary artist working primarily with acrylic on linen. His paintings move between expressive figuration and abstraction, using bold colour, physical texture and energetic mark-making to explore presence, strength, transformation and inner states.

Animals and the human figure frequently appear in his work, not simply as subjects but as carriers of character and emotion. Some compositions are built through restrained monochrome contrasts, while others use saturated blues, turquoise, gold, orange and vivid colour to create movement and intensity.

Shpak approaches each painting as an original, one-of-a-kind work, allowing the material and image to develop together through layered brushwork, palette-knife marks, drips and spontaneous gestures.

Originally from Ukraine, he creates work intended to communicate directly through image, surface and emotion, leaving space for viewers to form their own interpretation.
