In my practice I work with painting, photography and installations.
The painting practice dwells with the communication between defined form and negative spaces in which spatial quality is important. The goal is for simplicity and forms detached from representation, although the nonfigurative forms may have figurative associations. The work is in a totally free and open manner, meaning I do not use sketches or detailed plans. This free way of practice opens up to unintended and interesting communication between the forms and colors.
The choice of color is related to the emotional content, often towards the darker end of the color scale but what may seem close to black always have selections of light and softer colors. Acrylic on linen or cotton are the preferred materials, occasionally combined with oil or ink.
The photographic works are either figurative comments to political or human events or nonfigurative pieces, based on my installations. The colors are selected to support the basic idea in my photo practice.
When working on my installations I plan for them to be the basis for my photos. Often I start out with colored fluids, occasionally I introduce other detectable materials.
