Costin Lazar

A third-generation artist, I come from a lineage of makers: my father was a sculptor, and my grandfather a painter. Trained at the Art Institute of Bucharest and Toronto's OCAD University, sculpture has remained the foundation of my practice, while my creative pursuits extend across painting, jewellery, drawing, and ceramics.
Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a deep respect for craftsmanship, I am continually drawn to new materials, techniques, and artistic challenges. Working with my hands is both instinct and discipline—an ongoing exploration where traditional skills meet contemporary expression. Whether shaping stone, precious metals, clay, or pigment, each medium offers a distinct language through which to investigate form, balance, and beauty.
For me, creating is not confined to a single discipline but is a lifelong dialogue between material, imagination, and the pursuit of refinement.
