As an artist, I am drawn to the fluidity of organic forms as well as the precision of geometric abstraction. My work explores the relationship between movement, structure, and emotion, creating sculptures that balance dynamic flow with calculated form. By blending conceptual ideas with both organic and geometrical elements, I seek to challenge perceptions of space, balance, and transformation.
Beyond aesthetics, my sculptures are deeply influenced by social issues and world events. I create works that reflect the human experience—capturing themes of resilience, struggle, unity, and emotion. Through abstraction, I aim to give form to the complexities of human stories, translating collective and personal narratives into sculptural expression.
Inspired by the natural world, architecture, and contemporary abstraction, my sculptures range from fluid, biomorphic designs to structured, geometric compositions. Each piece is a reflection of my fascination with form, texture, and the interplay of light and shadow. Whether through smooth, flowing curves or sharp, precise edges, my goal is to engage viewers on both a visual and emotional level, inviting them to connect with the artwork in their own way.
Parvaneh Roudgar is an internationally acclaimed sculptor with over 38 years of experience creating impactful and thought-provoking public artworks. Parvaneh began her artistic journey in Florence, Italy, where she studied under renowned sculptors Antonio Di Tommaso and Marcello Fantoni. Immersed in the rich traditions of Italian art and sculpture, she gained a profound understanding of sculptural techniques, geometric abstraction, and conceptual design. This invaluable knowledge continues to shape her creative practice. Now based in Canada, where she has lived for the past 26 years, Parvaneh Roudgar seamlessly weaves her Persian heritage with traditional Italian methods and techniques and the multicultural richness of Canada.
Parvaneh’s works are exhibited in many different countries in North America, Asia, Europe and Australia. Her most recent outdoor exhibition was in Sydney 2018 at the Sculpture by the Sea in Bondi. In 2020 her sculpture “Migration” was installed permanently in Currumbian Wildlife Sanctuary in Gold Coast, Australia. In 2017, Parvaneh’s work “Mother and Child” was commissioned and permanently installed in the Inlet Skytrain Station in Port Moody (Canada) as part of the city’s Evergreen Project. In 2009, her work, “Cosmos Flower”, was one of the winners of the outdoor sculpture competition for BC and Washington and was exhibited in the city for two years. This competition was organized by the city of Anacortes, Washington.
In 2000, Parvaneh was commissioned by the Environmental Society of Iran to design and create a model for an outdoor sculpture. The project has been reproduced in large numbers to be installed in traditional homes and historical sites across the country. She was also commissioned in the same year by the Mayor of Tehran (Iran) to create a trophy to reward various individuals among a group of environmental preservationists.
