Gildardo Gallo

Gildardo Gallo was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1970. In the early 90s, he moved to Mexico City to study photography, and later moved to Italy, where he works and lives.
Always attentive to human behavior and its psychological aspects, from the beginning of his career in photography, he became interested in portraiture, curious about how people behave in front of the camera (or rather, how we behave when we are being observed).
Fascinated by human psychology, its psychoses, and above all, the immense strength humans have to overcome life's dramas, he addresses these themes in his projects with a language that often blends psychosis with aesthetics, thus creating a refined way to approach profound and difficult topics.
He also attempts to tell his own story and recognize himself through his work, constructing scenes that in some way represent moments of his lived history. His dreamlike projects always explore the human condition, our fears, our pain, and above all, our internal conflicts.
Gildardo Gallo is a meticulous photographer, attentive to detail and quality. His work is large-format and he is able to connect with his models, guiding them to interpret his characters—a kind of director in stage photography.
