Sandra Jabaut

Sandra L. Jabaut, born in 1955 and raised in Elgin Illinois and resides in Lake George, New York.

Now retired, she focuses on traveling, writing, singing and painting. She exhibits her work throughout the area where she lives. Sandra has paintings in private collections in England, Germany, Ireland, China, Myanmar,
South Africa, India, Peru, Spain, Portugal, France, Austria, Egypt, Greece and in the United States.


ARTIST STATEMENT:

My mind is a vessel to my soul, weaving powerful dreams and images that need to be expressed. Once I begin to create, my art pushes boundaries that nourish my soul and satisfy my creative energy. I challenge myself to strive for realism and to explore new concepts, techniques, and images, which inspire my passion to create and continue in the search for the true spirit of one’s self. Every creation is a renewal and connection between me and the execution of the new image. It is a part of my everyday life. I am moved to make art for reasons that are varied and complex and often intrinsically and intensely personal. Every day I am challenged and inspired. Sandra graduated from Southern Illinois University and received her graduate degree from Castleton State College in Vermont. Sandra taught art in Southern Illinois, and several New York State schools and ended her career teaching for the Queensbury School District.

Her oil painting “Crucifixion of Christ” hangs in the permanent collection of the Harrisena Community Church in Queensbury, New York. In 2014, “Sunflowers”, her watercolor painting was selected for the permanent collection at the Warwick Conference Center in New York. In 2015 and 2016 she received the award “promotional piece” for the ADK Plein Air Festival in Ticonderoga, New York. In 2017, her painting “Vortex to the Unknown” was awarded the Juror’s Award and selected as the promotional piece for the NCAC’s Exhibition for “ Last Call: A Collective Oratorio.” In 2017, she received the NCAC People’s Choice Award for her painting “Rooftops: Great Camp Sagamore.” In 2018, her painting “Puzzled Landscape” was selected for the permanent collection for the Hudson Headwaters Women’s Health Center. In 2018 and 2019, she was a participant in the NorthCountryARTS Warren County Artist Studio Tour. In 2024 she was selected for the
Artist Resident Week at the Wiawaka Center for Women. Her pastel portrait “Alexia” was juried into the 2024 Adirondack National Pastel Exhibition. “Nature’s Path” painting was selected to represent the motif for the Adirondack Regional Immigration Collaborative.
