Arun Karanth

I am a contemporary artist based in Mangalore, Karnataka, India, known for realistic acrylic paintings that capture everyday life, Indian streets, people, architecture and the landscapes of the Himalayas.

My journey with art began as an amateur in 2010, experimenting with different mediums. I later trained in the fundamentals of drawing and painting at Prasad School of Art, Mangalore, and developed my skills further through years of independent practice and experimentation, particularly with acrylics.

I am drawn to ordinary moments that often go unnoticed — a street vendor at work, the atmosphere of a busy market, a quiet mountain landscape or a culturally significant place. Through detailed observation and realistic painting, I try to preserve not just the appearance of a scene, but also the emotion and story behind it.

My work has been presented at art events and exhibitions including Chitrasanthe, Kala Parba, Kudla Kala Mela and Varna Vaibhava. I also regularly participate in live painting and on-the-spot art events.

My goal is to create paintings that allow viewers to pause, connect with a moment and experience a place or story through my eyes.
