Serdar Cherkezov

I first became acquainted with painting at the age of 5, when I found books with paintings in my home library. The masterpieces of great artists made an incredible impression on me. I peered into the paintings, the paints, not understanding at all how it was possible to do this. Drawing became my favorite pastime, I experimented a lot, peered into the world around me, studied art from books and in museums, dreaming of painting, conveying the fantastic colors of nature. I learned the technique of oil painting on my own.
My works are not just a reflection of what I saw, they are an attempt to convey to the viewer the range of feelings that overwhelm me when I come into contact with the beauty of the world. In each picture I strive to capture a moment, to catch the elusive, to breathe life into the canvas. Using a rich palette of colors, I create landscapes permeated with sun and light, full of life and movement.
Mountains are not just static objects, but living beings breathing history and the wisdom of centuries. The sea is a boundless element, sometimes calm and peaceful, sometimes stormy and unpredictable.
