Born in 1989, Darya Azari is an Iranian contemporary painter and filmmaker based in France. Her artistic practice focuses primarily on figurative contemporary art, exploring themes of memory, identity, displacement, the body, and emotional experience through expressive visual language. Working across painting and film, she develops poetic and psychologically charged narratives that combine personal history with broader social and human questions.
Although she holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Law from the Science and Research University of Tehran, Azari chose to dedicate her life to artistic creation and visual storytelling. Her work is deeply influenced by cinema, literature, and lived experience, often balancing intimacy, symbolism, and emotional tension within contemporary figurative compositions.
Through her paintings and films, she seeks to create spaces where vulnerability, resilience, and human complexity can be felt beyond words.
