ABOUT
EDUCATION
I studied at the National School for Educators in Mexico City, where I developed my handicraft skills.
Learning the value of being self-taught, I always gravitated toward the crafts and folk art of my country.
At school, I came into contact with theater, which fascinated me.
Forty years later, I decided to leave everything behind, take the pause, and risk interpreting through painting those emotions I'd kept inside me for years, which explode in color into a profound feeling.
Now, I take advantage of every moment to continue learning techniques in cartonería, pottery, ceramics, and textile arts.
I'm capturing this personal moment in my work, so that the viewer can discover what's inside me, or feel my energy.
Inspired by the textiles of Oaxacan, Purépecha, and Huichol artisans, as well as by folk arts, I try to use colors to represent both an object and nature.
I use repetition and asymmetry to express imaginative visual rhythms, like a textile, interweaving colors and feelings as I imagine and dream them.
I am influenced by and admired by artists such as Kenny Nguyenctl, Carmen Mon, Fernando Andracci, Jaime Domínguez, among others. I select colors that represent the beauty and warmth of my country.
