Smi Hylander

I am a Canadian painter based in Sweden. I hold a Master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and completed the prestigious Rijksakademie residency in Amsterdam. My work is rooted in nature and draws on influences from primal and folk art and ethnology, exploring symbols and visual traditions across cultures.

I am a recipient of national grants from the British Columbia Arts Council and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee (Konstnärsnämnden).
