Mia Ikigai

I am a Danish selftaught artist based in Italy. Artist name Mia Ikigai.
I began taking an interest in art as a child because I grew up in a house full of artists and musicians.
Since I was a child I loved to draw. When I moved to Italy more than 30 years ago I quitted drawing because I was too busy with my career.
On October 13 th 2019 I had a horse accident and remained invalid for almost a year. In many Northern European cultures the number 13 is considered unlucky. My ancestors, the vikings, held the number to be sacred. This life-changing event became my beautiful second chance, because it evoked the desire to draw. I started to post my pencil drawings. I was contacted by an art critic who saw potential in my artworks and invited me to use colors. So I started to create acrylic paintings.

Da dicembre 2024 a gennaio 2025, Mia Ikigai espone per la prima volta due opere alla mostra in omaggio a Fernando Botero, presso il Palazzo Guinigi, antico palazzo a Lucca.Nel mese di aprile 2025, Mia Ikigai espone cinque opere alla mostra collettiva "Un tram chiamato desidero", presso la Galleria d'arte Engel Art di Viareggio.Sempre ad aprile 2025, l'artista viene selezionata per partecipare con la sua opera acrilica "Golden Age" al Top Selection a Berlino.
