Hijam Satyabrata

I am a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Manipur, India, working primarily with ink, acrylics, watercolour, charcoal, pastel, and mixed media. My practice is rooted in abstraction, where the emotional and cultural landscapes of my native Manipur take form through colour, texture, and symbolic structure.
Drawing inspiration from the experiential—be it the bustling energy of Ima Keithel, the quiet tension of borderlands, or the poetic rhythm of folk rituals—my work seeks to evoke the layered realities of place, memory, and identity. Through a dynamic interplay of geometric and organic elements, I explore the fluidity between what is seen and what is felt, what is local and what is universal.
My goal as an artist is to create visual and sensory encounters that invite personal introspection while offering collective resonance. Through abstraction, I hope to connect cultural specificity with broader human experiences—allowing each viewer to find traces of their own journey within mine.
