Gowri Le

Based in London, my creative journey began the moment I first picked up a crayon. From the very beginning, I have been captivated by the natural world, with animals, and especially birds, at the heart of my practice. Birds embody both grace and transcendence, their gift of flight symbolising freedom and beauty, themes that I return to again and again in my work.

I paint primarily in acrylics, drawn to the medium for its intensity and brilliance of colour. For me, colour is not merely an aesthetic choice but a vital language of emotion, one that nourishes the soul and warms the heart. Layering bold, luminous hues, I seek to capture both the vibrancy of life and the quiet poetry that lies within it.

While deeply inspired by the romanticism of the Pre-Raphaelites, my work reimagines their reverence for detail through the lens of abstract impressionism. My lifelong love of colour stems from the jewel like richness of their paintings, which continues to inform the depth, luminosity, and richness of my own. Balancing abstraction with devotion to the subjects I depict, my art celebrates animals and the natural world while inviting viewers to rediscover wonder, grace, and interconnectedness.
