Wisdom Ogene-Mario Ettoh

I am a Ghanaian visual artist who has spent a significant part of my life in Nigeria. My work is the most honest expression of how I interpret myself and the world around me. I believe that without the ability to actualize an idea or concept, art simply cannot exist. Each piece I create is a way of bringing thoughts and emotions to life—bridging the intangible with the tangible.

I do not confine myself to one medium, style, or technique. Inspiration is fluid, and ideas evolve. While my creative journey has taken many forms, my recent focus has been on impasto painting—a technique that allows me to physically feel the texture of the paint and know that I’ve made my ideas real. The thick, layered strokes give presence and weight to the stories I tell through color and form.

Every piece I paint serves as both a reflection of where I’ve come from and what I’ve learned, as well as a glimpse into where I’m going. If a viewer pauses, even briefly, to reflect on my work—then I know I’ve succeeded.
