Dmitri Vrubel (1960–2022) was a Russian contemporary artist and one of the most influential post-Soviet political painters. His mural “My God, Help Me Survive This Deadly Love”, painted on the Berlin Wall in 1990, became a global icon of both protest and propaganda.
Vrubel’s works were shown at Sotheby’s, Christie’s, the Tretyakov Gallery, and Berlin’s Nationalgalerie. His art combined socialist symbolism, pop art, and personal mythologies.
