Nila Bah

My work is a dialogue between emotion, identity and heritage.
With German, Portuguese and Gambian roots, I carry different cultures, stories and rhythms within me — and they all flow into my art.

I create expressive portraits using ink, acrylic paint, gold leaf and textiles. My process is intuitive and guided by feeling; I follow movement, layers and color until a presence emerges. The women in my work embody softness and strength, vulnerability and power — they are spiritual, proud and deeply connected to their ancestry.

Texture, gold and flowing forms are essential in my practice. They reflect light, memory and the inner landscapes of the soul. Each artwork is meant to evoke warmth, contemplation and a sense of recognition — as if the viewer meets a part of themselves within the portrait.
