Jong Jin Jang

“I was born in a rural village in Gyo-dong, Jung-ri, Gwanin-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. I have an innate interest and dexterity in art, and I feel infinite gratitude for my current artistic activities.

We use a unique technique of melting copper wires with an oxygen welding torch and shaping them as if we were shaping clay. This is a method that I learned entirely on my own, and many professors have praised it, saying it is ‘a fresh technique that I have never seen before.’”

In the process of sublimating the cold, hard texture of metal into soft works of art, he creates sculptures with themes such as dragons, human emotions (agony), and nature (flowers and girls). In particular, the **Yong series has received high praise at domestic and international art exhibitions, and communicates with audiences in an organic yet dynamic form.
