Charlotte Olsen

My name is Charlotte Olsen.
I’m a Copenhagen-based painter working primarily with acrylic and metallic pigments. My practice centers on texture, light, and the weight of dark space.

My current series, The Void, uses layered black, bronze, and gold to explore what happens at the edge of light — the moment before darkness fully settles. I build each surface through heavy brushwork, scraping, and reworking until the painting holds both density and glow. The metallic elements shift as you move, so the work changes with the time of day and the viewer’s position.

I’m interested in restraint. Minimal palettes, strong physical surfaces, and compositions that act like quiet landscapes without depicting anything literal. The paintings are made to be lived with: calm, grounding objects that anchor a room.
All works are original, signed, and created in my studio in Denmark.
