Rupert Lyon

Rupert Lyon is an American art director and designer, working on campaigns appearing in Vogue, GQ, Glamour, W, Elle and other major publications. His fine artworks include explorations in photography, collage, painting, sculpture, digital art and theatre. Rupert’s photographs of Los Angeles cityscapes culminate in turbulent, frothing surges of multi-focus color that resemble mid-century Color Field painting– and reflect his passion for surfing. Numbering among his current influences are the works of fine art photographers like Josef Sudek, Ola Kolehmainen and Marilyn Minter. Rupert was born in Connecticut and has lived and worked in Los Angeles since the turn of the century.

An image from this series was recently selected to appear in an exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of the City of West Hollywood, California and was awarded a prize by the city.
