Valentina Torres (Quito, Ecuador, 1997) is a self-taught painter and figurative artist whose work explores symbolic portraits of women from ancestral cultures. Though she holds a degree in mechanical engineering, her artistic calling emerged at the age of 16 when she began drawing faces, eventually developing her own acrylic painting technique.
Her most recent series, "Women Without Faces, Timeless Legacies", pays tribute to tribal women from Africa-warriors, healers, and leaders whose stories survive through oral tradition, though their faces were never recorded. Through symbolism, vibrant colors, and creative reinterpretation, Torres connects these women's legacies to her own story as a Latin American woman working in traditionally male spaces.
Her painting style combines symbolic realism with ethnographic references, honoring female strength, dignity, and ancestral memory. Valentina is currently preparing her first solo exhibition and seeks to bring her work to global platforms that amplify women's stories and cultural identity.
