Sandra Miller

I was born and raised in Cascade Locks, Oregon, USA
I currently live in Cascade Locks, Oregon, USA
My artistic influences include Andy Warhol and Ansel Adams. I draw my inspiration from nature.
My media of choice are drawing, painting, and photography.
I am passionate about drawing and painting because at the age of
three years old, I watched my grandmother ( my mom’s mother)
begin to draw on a 16 X 20 white canvas a mason canning jar
filled with water and twelve red roses, which, after completing
the drawing, began to fill in with oil paint. I wanted to do that too.
I got interested in photography at the age of seven
because my mother’s friend was a photographer.
I wanted to see her darkroom to understand photography.
She took me to her home with my mother and showed me
her darkroom. I got to watch her develop the film and process
the film to photo paper. I was hooked, and I thought it was magic.
I never worked under another artist or with another artist. I have won cash prizes in photography. I was self-taught in painting and drawing. I received a formal
education in photography. I have taken part in four international
exhibitions and five regional exhibitions. My work is in
private collections.
