Aleksandr Kovalchuk

A multidisciplinary artist born on Sakhalin Island (USSR) in 1969. His work integrates traditional painting, drawing, and collage techniques with cutting-edge technology to explore nostalgia, pop culture, and collective memory.
Alex began his artistic career as a teenager, working with illustrative graphics. A series of illustrations for Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov later led him to the «Creative Union of Artists of Moscow». His most recent works include video installations and paintings created entirely in digital format. A recent move from Russia to Kazakhstan allowed him to further pursue his artistic journey. He is fascinated by symbolism, in which the ideas of memory form the narrative space.
