Jean Foss (born in the United States, 1967), has been living and painting in Oaxaca since 2001.

Jean's art largely features the land and culture of Oaxaca, with special emphasis on the women’s role in the society. Her work also features many cats and dogs—a reflection of her involvement with animal rescue and adoption for many years.

Jean lives in San Andrés Huayapam with her artist husband, their daughter, and many adopted street animals.

Jean studied fine arts and creative writing at the University of Iowa and the University of Oregon, and printmaking with Shinzaburo Takeda and Oswaldo Ramírez at the UABJO School of Fine Arts in Oaxaca, Mexico

Jean has been exhibiting her work since her first solo invitational show in 1991 to the present. Her work has been exhibited in museums, cultural centers, universities, libraries and galleries in the United States and Mexico.

In Oaxaca, Jean’s work has been featured at el Museo de Los Pintores Oaxaqueños (MUPO), el Museo del Palacio Municipal (MUPAL), el Centro de Los Artes San Agustín Etla (CASA) among other places.
