Born in the late 1970s, Tang Yumin is a graduate of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. As a distinguished artist in the field of contemporary art, his sculptural practice is consistently guided by profound reflections on nature and humanity.
Growing up during a transitional era, Tang embodies both the resilience and pragmatism of the 1970s generation, as well as the openness and diversity that characterized the 1980s. This unique temporal background imbues his works with rich cultural depth and a sharp insight into modern society.
His sculptures showcase a powerful integration of artistic form and vital energy, demonstrating not only masterful execution in physical shape but also a contemporary expression of the spirited connection between humans and animals—often symbolized through the motif of the rhinoceros, representing tacit understanding and spiritual resonance.
In his hands, animals become symbolic bridges linking humanity to civilization. Rather than mere physical representations, his works serve as thoughtful explorations of ecology, history, and culture.
