Mateya Yovbak

I was born in Ukraine in 1992 and moved to Rome in 2012. I’ve been painting and writing for as long as I can remember — it’s the most natural way for me to translate what I feel and see into something real.

I work with acrylics, markers, watercolor, ink, and anything that happens to fall into my hands. My process is instinctive and emotional, guided more by impulse than by rules. Through my work, I explore human faces, bodies, and emotions — everything that hides beneath the surface.

For me, painting is not just expression. It’s survival, movement, transformation — a way to give form to what words can’t hold.
