Roger Munro

I am a Scottish artist with a background in architecture and design, working primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas. My practice explores landscape and architecture through abstraction, geometry and colour.

Much of my work is inspired by walking and travel — places experienced over time rather than from a single viewpoint. Landscapes are assembled as sequences of moments: shifting light, changing terrain, pauses, conversations and movement. Architectural forms are approached in a similar way, reduced and reconfigured to balance structure with warmth and human presence.

Colour is central to my process. I build layered, deliberate palettes to create rhythm and depth, allowing colour and form to suggest memory, atmosphere and emotion rather than literal representation. The resulting works sit between abstraction and figuration, inviting the viewer to experience the space intuitively.

Alongside my art studio practice, I draw on more than 30 years of experience in architecture and design, which continues to inform my approach to composition, scale and spatial clarity.
