Janis Fry

My paintings explore the emotional and spiritual power of colour and light and are often concerned with the mystical quality and divine nature of the natural landscape. I also paint Portraits, Mythology of the Tree of Life and Still Life. I am deeply affected by, and seek to paint the drama of tonal contrasts, things half seen, merging, fading and emerging and by symbolism. An important motif of mine is Portals, the ways between worlds and states of consciousness. I am a visionary painter in that my paintings begin in my imagination.

2015 Produced 72 paintings for exhibition called The Sacred Yew at Swansea University, Ceri Richards gallery

2017 Organised exchange exhibitions between the Icelandic and Nordic Watercolour Society and RWSW. Paintings shown at the Nordic House, Reykjavic.

2020 Organised exchange exhibitions and exhibited work with the Italian Watercolour Society (AIA) based in Milan.

October 2025 Exhibited 40 paintings at major exhibition with Dorothy Morris at Aberglasney Gardens, West Wales.
