The major focus of WooJin Choi's works is always on representing the paintings as a ways of illustrating his vision to others. He believes that art is an another form of language, which holds no barriers in communicating with people whether regardless of their nationalities.
Most of Choi's paintings take its subject from existing objects in reality, but instead of representing the objects as they are perceived from reality, he interprets and defines the objects from his personal point of view creating the works less formal, but more emotional works.
The style of Choi's paintings are heavily inspired by abstract expressionists, and these influences are visible in his works through the use of brush strokes, and strong contrast in colors. The reason he applies strong contrast in colors is to attract the eyes of viewers, and at the same time define the overall shape of the painting more clearly. Though Choi's painting style is influenced by abstract expressionism he keeps original forms of objects in his paintings in order to not lose the sense of reality.
