Alexandra Cazes

Alexandra Cazes is a French-Russian artist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Working primarily with oil paint, chalk, and layered surfaces, her practice explores fragility, erosion, and the persistence of memory through material traces and atmospheric forms.

Her paintings emerge through processes of accumulation, removal, and partial disappearance. Powder-like textures, muted tones, and unstable structures create surfaces that oscillate between presence and absence, evoking fragments of architecture, fading images, and bodily traces.

Before fully dedicating herself to art, Alexandra worked for over fifteen years in the banking sector. During her time in Singapore (2021–2023), she began developing her artistic practice through painting and independent study of contemporary art, later pursuing Fine Arts studies at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where she earned a Licence in Arts Plastiques in 2025.

Living between Southeast Asia and Europe continues to shape her visual language, informed by displacement, material sensitivity, and the tension between structure and disappearance.
