Eva Slaje

I live and paint in Mödling, a quaint suburb of Vienna where history and nature meet in quiet harmony. Surrounded by this blend of charm and culture, I find inspiration both in the intimacy of my studio and in the open air.

My practice spans oil, acrylic, watercolor, and even crayons — each medium offering a different language of expression. Oil gives me depth and permanence, watercolor brings fluidity and lightness, acrylic offers bold immediacy, and crayons remind me of the playful freedom of childhood.

Whether painting indoors or en plein air, I seek to capture not just the visible world but the emotional resonance behind it. For me, art is a way of cleansing and renewal. I share Pablo Picasso’s belief that art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Each canvas is a moment of release, a chance to reconnect with something essential and timeless.

Ultimately, my work is about presence — being fully alive to color, texture, and atmosphere, and inviting others to pause, breathe, and see the world anew.
