Xiaoyu Cheng is a contemporary artist and critic with an international perspective and profound scholarly foundation. He first emerged as a pivotal figure in China's "85 New Wave Art Movement," known for works that intertwine rational painting with incisive socio-cultural commentary. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has consistently navigated between Chinese and Western contexts, producing a complex and unique body of work that resists easy categorization.
