Originally trained as a printmaker I quickly moved on from etchings and silkscreens to take advantage of what was then cutting edge technology to become one of the original artists using the computer as a tool. I quickly let the technology explosion pass by as I settled into the world of ceramic sculpture. It was there that I re-examined the lines and textures that had once influenced my prints and let them evolve into three dimensional forms. Coinciding with a move into NYC I found myself enthralled with the vertical world that I now ambled through. The buildings that are now my landscape found their way into my sculptures.
I work with a dark brown stoneware clay that is then fired in a cone six oxidation firing. Each piece is made from individual elements that are then fashioned into larger forms.
