Olha Kocherhan is a Ukrainian textile artist based in Kyiv. Her practice centers on monochrome hand-embroidered textile compositions that explore the relationship between geometry, texture, and light.
Growing up in the mountainous region of Western Ukraine, she was deeply influenced by the calm and quiet stillness of the surrounding nature – a feeling she later expressed through her art.
A self-taught artist without formal education in art or design, Olha has been drawn to creating since early childhood, experimenting with different materials and forms before establishing textile as her primary medium.
She has worked with textile as her primary medium since 2018, beginning with hand woven pieces and gradually evolving her practice into embroidered textured works.
At the core of her work lies the idea of the artwork as a meditative presence. Through repetition, rhythm, and subtle contrasts, her compositions invite contemplation. As the viewer’s gaze moves across geometry and shifting light, the flow of thoughts softens, creating a quiet moment of stillness.
