Harriet Jacobster

I create photographic work rooted in observation, restraint, and quiet presence. My images often emerge from small, easily overlooked moments in the natural world—branches, birds, shadows, and subtle patterns—where form and space carry as much meaning as subject.

Working in both color and black and white, I allow each image to determine its own voice. Some photographs resolve through contrast and reduction; others through nuance and tone. Across all of the work, I am drawn to simplicity, negative space, and the balance between stillness and movement.

Rather than constructing scenes, I respond to what is already there. My photographs are invitations to slow down, notice structure within silence, and experience moments of clarity without excess or distraction.
