Archivio Michele Praticò

Michele Praticò (1951–2022) was an Italian painter with exhibitions in Italy and internationally.

His works have been shown in international contexts including Vienna, Madrid and New York.

His artistic research combines figurative elements, symbolism and expressive use of colour, creating a recognisable and dynamic visual language.

He graduated from the Institute of Art and attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Reggio Calabria and
Catanzaro.
His strong passion for visual arts drove him to improve his skills by attending several specialized
institutes in Paris, London, and Brussels, where he developed his own distinctive painting technique.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, earning prestigious awards and
recognitions.
In the 1980s, Michele Praticò had an audience with Pope John Paul II, to whom he presented a
splendid work entitled “Verso la Speranza” (Towards Hope), which is still on display in the Vatican.
The artwork “Donna nel Vento” (Woman in the Wind) was donated to the President of the Republic,
Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.
He collaborated with Amnesty International, creating the poster and lithographs titled “La tortura nel
mondo” (Torture in the World).
Known as “the artist of feeling and the poet of color”, Michele Praticò expresses profound emotions
through a vibrant and symbolic use of color, creating works that speak to hope, freedom, and the
human condition
