Lucia Fernandez Ip

I am a Hong Kong–born visual artist currently based in Spain. My practice focuses on figurative works and portraits, often infused with elements of light, softness, and quiet magic. Working primarily with oil painting, soft pastel, and oil pastel, I explore emotional presence, inner worlds, and the subtle space between reality and imagination.
Born with color deficiency, I approach color intuitively rather than conventionally. This unique perception has shaped a sensitive relationship with tone, contrast, and atmosphere, allowing light and emotion to guide my compositions beyond traditional color logic. Rather than pursuing realism, my work centers on feeling, energy, and the unseen layers within each subject.
I am a CIC and ACCPH certified Applied Art and Therapy Practitioner, and this background deeply informs my creative process. For me, art-making is both a reflective and therapeutic act — a quiet dialogue with emotions, memory, and inner experience. My works often hold themes of vulnerability, gentleness, and emotional resilience, inviting viewers into a softened, contemplative space.
