Dao Gang Zhang

I was born in 1963 in Panzhou, Guizhou Province, China. I currently serve as Vice President of the Guizhou Provincial Chinese Painting Society and as a specially appointed research fellow at the Guizhou Provincial Institute of Literature and History. I am also a member of the Guizhou Provincial Calligraphers Association, the Guizhou Provincial Artists Association, and the Guizhou Provincial Poetry Society.

I am a direct disciple of the contemporary Chinese painting master Wang Zhenzhong, and my artistic practice is deeply influenced by Li Keran’s philosophy of “one hand reaching toward tradition, and the other toward life.” Throughout my career, I have remained committed to integrating the disciplined study of traditional Chinese ink techniques with painting directly from life. Through sustained practice and reflection, I seek to express the spiritual depth and vitality of brush and ink while maintaining a natural and sincere visual language.
