Working under the name Otto, Timothy McGuire explores the layered complexity of human experience through two complementary bodies of work. In his abstract line paintings, Otto distills life into pure energy. Strong, deliberate lines chart emotional landscapes, capturing fleeting instants as well as expansive moments. These works are not literal records but atmospheric impressions—visual auras of memory, sensation, and presence. His animal character series offers a more intimate counterpart. Each figure personifies traits essential for resilience and growth, serving as both alter-ego and aspirational guide. They become symbols of what one must embody to navigate life's evolving challenges. Alongside this practice, McGuire has built a career as a Senior UX and Visual Designer, crafting digital experiences for global brands and large organizations. In design, he solves problems and constructs narratives for others; in art, he allows narratives to flow into him from instinctive, less defined places.
